Outfit of Anthropologie + A Review

This post is dedicated to everyone's favorite store.  It's not exactly in my price range for clothes, but I love the store anyways.  This may be the most Anthropologie clothes I've ever worn at once.  I really liked this outfit for my office.  Also, I feel that I should mention that this is still from the outfit archives (Jan 11).  Maybe one day I'll catch up on my posts.
Dress & cardigan: Anthropologie
Tights: American Apparel
Shoes: Naturalizer
Flower hair clip: Forever 21

On Friday I spent some time in the mall.  I purchased a few items on clearance from American Eagle, basic long sleeved tees.  I also tried out a new ice cream place, LA Artisan Creamery.  It was amazing!  The lavender honey and Jack Daniel's were my favorite flavors.  Next up, I spent a lot of time in Anthropologie.  I browsed the home section for a long time.  I want to pick up some hooks for my entryway for coats and keys.  I like these: flourish hook, place-setting hooks, big key hook, and other key hooks so far.  I also tried on a few dresses.  This one was disappointing on me because it was not meant for someone so petite.  However, I'm in love with this one!  It needs hemmed, but that's easy.  I'll have to wait until it goes on sale though.

Finally, wedding attire options I can afford!

This weekend's quest to find a dress to wear to a wedding this month may have finally ended.  I bought 3 $30 party dresses hoping one works.  The first option is from Forever 21.  I love polka dots, and this dress brings black to the standard navy and white polka dot combination.  I would pair this with a pendant necklace, with pearls or a locket.  The straps need shortened on this.

The next dress came from the sale room of Urban Outfitters.  I was drawn to the jewel tone and the detail on the back.  I would pair this with a necklace of the same weight as the one I wore for the picture but in silver and black instead of gold.  The straps on this dress need shortened a lot.

The last dress is also from the sale room of Urban Outfitters.  I love the bubble hem.  I felt like it needed a wide black belt, but once I put it together, I think it could go either way.  I'm also not sure about accessories yet.  I could have the neckline ruched at the tailor to make it a slight sweetheart, a very flattering shape on me.

And I've been feeling extra skinny this weekend, so here are two silly photos that I just liked because I look thin!

So, which should I keep and which should I return?  The black and pink dress from H&M could still be an option as well.

More Wedding Attire Options

I went to White House Black Market today in search of a good dress to wear to the wedding.  The sales girls were soooooo helpful and nice.  Here's the first option.  It would be steamed before I bought it so the ruffle lays flat.  Also I might have the tailor take up the top from the seam in the back.

The next option has pockets and a sweetheart neckline, always favorites of mine.

What do you think?  Neither is cheap, and I was kind of hoping for a unique, fun dress.  These are both super flattering though!  Thankfully this weekend there is a $10 mall gift card with $100+ purchase.

Wedding Attire Options

So I have a wedding to attend in August, and I would love to buy a new dress to wear.  I found one from Anthropologie a while back that I love, but it's way too expensive.

Yesterday I tried on a few dresses at H&M as well.  Only two fit decently. (Also check out that messy bun...so good even after a day of work and trying on a bunch of dresses!)

The second dress from H&M I loved!  I tried it on hoping it came in a different color.  I would love it in black and silver.  Unfortunately, it only comes in white and gold.

Do you have any suggestions for a great dress for me to try on?  I am still on the hunt for an affordable dress to wear to a wedding.  It's an evening wedding at a nice hotel, but the ceremony will be outside by the hotel pool.  I want something light for the hot summer weather, but formal enough for an evening reception.

Trying on clothes for a friend

While in Anthropologie, I decided to try on items from Sahiti's wishlist since she doesn't have a store near her.  Plus it's fun to try on items I may not have picked up.

Tecolote Tank - size M

The flowers on the neckline felt a little bit like wearing a lei to me.

Sweet-and-Sour Blouse - size 6

Love the feel of this top.  It's too big for me under the bust, but I have a smaller ribcage.  Straps might need shortened, but should be an easy fix in the back.

State Fair Dress - size 4

This dress is so pretty in person!  Almost pink.  However, it is not meant for a short person.  It would need pretty much rebuilt by a tailor.  The band at the waist was tight, so it sat high on me.

Fitting Room Reviews

I made two trips to Anthropologie in the last week.  I've started a wishlist online and trying on the items in store.  Hopefully something I fall in love with at full price will go on sale!

I will need a size 4 in this, I tried on a 6 in the store.  I love it.  I think it's super flattering, plus the turtle pattern is fun.

This dress was true to size.  Also a flattering shape on me.

This is a pull-on style.  I liked it more in person.  Looking at the pictures, I'm not sure the stripes work on me.

I love this dress!  The straps need shortened, but it's an easy fix.  The fabric is silky cotton, and the print is so fun!  I really hope this goes on sale eventually.  I want to make this mine.  I'm embracing my inner cat-lady in this.

I tried on more items, but this is a ton for one post as it is.  I'll do another post tomorrow.
